“Totus Tuus” community as a fruit of Medjugorje

Many prayer communities have been created as a fruit of Medjugorje and Patiricija Simunic Čakovec from Croatia gave witness to this during the International Meeting for Group Leaders, which was held recently in Medjugorje. She is a member of the Marian prayer community “Totus Tuus” and this community was founded as a fruit of Medjugorje. A young couple from Germany decided to visit Medjugorje during their holiday in Croatia, and this is where they experienced a conversion. After their return to Germany, they began to pray and to live the Gospa’s messages. Other faithful joined them and that is how a little prayer group was formed. In 1994, they organised a pilgrimage to Medjugorje for the youth and this was a turning point for many other pilgrimages which will take place in the future, as well as for the community itself. Various prayer groups developed out of these pilgrimages and the community “Totus Tuus” was created - translated from Latin it means “All Yours”. “The community became active in Čakovec in 2001, as a branch community of the main one in Germany, and this happened immediately after our first joint pilgrimage to Medjugorje.” Patricia also spoke to us about the fruits of the community: “We organise pilgrimages for the youth, for the elderly and for families with children. Our community decided to evangelise and to initiate various activities so we would remain in contact with the pilgrims and help them to live the decisions they reached in Medjugorje. We organise various one-day spiritual renewals in different towns. Every year, for the anniversary of the apparitions in Medjugorje, we have an annual meeting called: “Danke, Gospa”, when we get together and thank the Gospa for the graces she has bestowed upon us.”
