27th Peace Walk held

date: 24.06.2018.

Today, at the Feast of St. John the Baptist and at the Eve of the 37th Anniversary of Our Lady’s Apparitions, as every year since 1992, the International Peace Walk was held from the Franciscan monastery of St. Anthony in Humac, to Medjugorje parish church of St. James.

The Walk began with prayer and the blessing of pilgrims outside the shrine of St. Anthony, where Fr. Dario Dodig, the Guardian of the Monastery, addressed all gathered pilgrims: “I wish for all of you to carry in your hearts what Gospa came to bring us – peace. Peace Walk means we walk and we honour the Lord, and peace in our hearts, the only one that God gives, is what you can bring home to others.” Many pilgrims from all over the world, led by Fr. Marinko Sakota, parish priest and the other priests, after nearly four hours of walking with prayer and music, arrived in front of the church of St. James. This Walk finished with the blessing with the Blessed Sacrament.

Hubert Liebherr from Germany, initiated this Peace Walk in 1992, after being horrified by the war in this country, he and few of his friends started this walk, trusting to the words of Our Lady that with the Rosary, even the wars could be stopped. (photos)
