The 13th International Seminar for Priests will be held in Medjugorje from 30th June to 5th July 2008. The theme of the seminar is: “We will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the Word” (Acts 6,4).

On Saturday the 24th of November 2007, parishioners and pilgrims in Medjugorje united in prayer to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the death of Fr. Slavko Barbarić.

Medjugorje Parish celebrated the feast of Saint Cecilia, patron saint of liturgical music, on Thursday the 22nd of November. The choir of the Queen of Peace, under the direction of Sister Slavica Kožul sung during the evening Mass.

Professional and amateur photographers from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro met in Medjugorje on Sunday the 18th of November 2007, for the first encounter of photographers entitled “Medjugorje Rocks”. Organized by Mate Vasilj, webmaster of the home page www.medjugorje.net, and in collaboration with the Parish Office (Fr. Petar Vlašić and Fr. Tomislav Pervan), Medjugorje opened the door to 55 photographers from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro.

Thomas Mueller, member of Totus Tuus, licensed chemist and theologian, won an award from the University of Koblenz for his thesis “25 years of Medjugorje - a theological-church-legal evaluation in the light of the sense of faith“.

The Eighth International Seminar for Married Couples took place in Medjugorje from the 31st of October to the 3rd of November 2007. Numbering 260 (130 married couples), the participants came from Italy, Slovakia, Latvia, Ukraine, France, Netherlands, Slovenia and Croatia.
The lecturer was Dr. Jozefina Škarica, a medical doctor and mother of four children. She is leader of the Counseling Centre for Youth, Marriage and Family in Šibenik (Croatia). The Seminar was simultaneously translated into several languages. Like all preceding seminars, it generated great enthusiasm among the participants.

In September 2007, Jorge de Jesús Loria Padilla, founder and leader of the Peace Center in Toluca in Mexico, visited Medjugorje. He not only organizes pilgrimages to Medjugorje but he is also currently translating Fr. Slavko Barbaric’s books into Spanish for Mexico.

On the 31st of October last, members of the First Aid Team of the Order of Malta from Germany, together with local medical staff and volunteers brought service in Medjugorje for the current year to a conclusion. Fr. Tomislav Pervan presided over the concluding Holy Mass and Blessing.

The 19th International Youth Festival - Mladifest 19 – will take place in Medjugorje from August 1st to August 6th, 2008. As a result of the redeployment of the members of the Herzegovinian Franciscan Province of the Assumption of Mary, two new priests were appointed chaplains to Medjugorje: Fr. Miljenko Šteko and Fr. Danko Perutina.

Alois Epner (76) is a retired teacher from Upper Austria. He was born in Croatia, but in 1944, the Epner family had to flee the country to escape from the communists. Although he never forgot his childhood in his native Croatia, he found a new home in Upper Austria. He visited Medjugorje for the first time in 1984, and since then he returns on a regular basis. Members of the “Faith and Light” Community made a pilgrimage to Medjugorje on Saturday the 20th of October, 2007. Their objective was to give a presentation of the activities of the Community to the families living in this area, who experience a similar difficulty: an interactive life with a physically or mentally handicapped person.

Fr. Jose Rodriguez Carballo, Superior General of the Franciscan Order, visited Medjugorje on October 8th, 2007. He was in Herzegovina from the 7th to the 10th of October visiting the friars of the Herzegovinian Franciscan Province of the Assumption of Mary. Dragan Soldo interviewed him for Radio Mir Medjugorje.
