At the last daily apparition to Jakov Colo on September 12th, 1998, Our Lady told him that henceforth he would have one apparition a year, every December 25th, on Christmas Day. This is also how it was this year. The apparition began at 2:35 pm and lasted 12 minutes.
On 4th Sunday of Advent, December 20, Medjugorje Children Choir “Doves of peace” had their traditional Christmas concert in the church of St. James, under guidance of Sr. Slavica Kozul. Their guests were members of High School Choir “Fr. Andrija Kacic Miosic” from Ploce. As in every previous year, Maestro Delo Jusic, famous musician and composer from Dubrovnik, conducted the concert. At the beginning of concert, parish priest Fr. Petar Vlasic greeted children, their parents and everybody present, and amongst other said the following: “Dear children, you with your singing in this Christmas time are announcing quick coming and birthday of Jesus Christ. Christmas is a feast of love, joy and our little doves are saying that to us in their songs. We prepare for Christmas with prayer, fasting, song. Let us sing to one another, let us rejoice to one another.” (photo)

Medjugorje parish is preparing for Christmas in this year, as in previous, with Novena that began on December 15. Early Holy Masses in packed church of St. James are celebrated at 6 a.m. every day except on Sundays, and Franciscan Youth Frama are singing and making celebration even more beautiful. Parishoners and pilgrims are climbing the Hill of Apparitions every day at 2 p.m. to pray the Rosary, while evening prayer programme begins at 5 p.m. every day with prayer of Rosary.
On Tuesday, December 8th Parish of Medjugorje solemnly celebrated the Feast of Immaculate Conception of Blessed Virgin Mary. Along with many pilgrims from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, there was surprisingly large number of pilgrims for this time of the year from Italy, Austria, United States, Spain, Mexico, France, Germany and other.

We celebrated ninth anniversary of late Fr.Slavko's death who died on November 24, 2000 at 3.30 on the top of the Cross Mountain after having completed the Way of the Cross. Numerous parishoners and pilgrims climbed the Cross Mountian praying the Way of the Cross at 2 p.m. that was led by Fr. Vjekoslav Milicevic. At 6 p.m. Fr. Danko Perutina celebrated Holy Mass in the parish church along with 18 other priests that concelebrated.
Christian Association Kup Karmel has organised on November 17th and 18th pilgrimage of about hundred poor and homeless people from Zagreb and few other towns from Croatia to Medjugorje and to the Queen of Peace. During their time in Medjugorj they visited Apparition Hill, they were present at the prayer and liturgical programme in the parish church of St. James, and they visited Mother’s Village.
On Tuesday, 24th of November there we will remember ninth anniversary of death of late Fr. Slavko Barbaric, who spent eighteen years of his life spreading Our Lady’s messages and taking care of pilgrims.
Dr. Johannes Mikl, doctor, cardiologist from Austria, author of the song “Gospa, majka moja” that is very often sung in Medjugorje parish church, was recently in Medjugorje. In the interview for radio station “Mir” Medjugorje, dr. Mikl said how he heard about Medjugorje in 1983, and soon afterwards came to this pilgrimage place with two of his friends.
On the eve of Feast of St.Francis, on October 3, Franciscan family throughout the whole world is celebrating the service of Transitus of St. Francis, or "Memoria Transitus" as they also call it. The service was held at the Dome of St. James' in Medjugorje after the evening Holy Mass at 6 p.m., and was led by Fr. Danko Perutina with active participation of Medjugorje Franciscan Youth (Frama). Numerous priests, members of different nationalities, participated as well, accompanied by their groups of pilgrims.

On Sunday, October 4 we celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, founder of three Franciscan orders. Parishoners are preparing for this feast with three-day prayer praogramme that begins on Thursday, October 1. Prayer of Rosary in the church of St.James is at 5 p.m., Holy Mass is at 6 p.m. On Saturday after the evening Holy Mass we will have service of Transitus in the church of St. James'. On the very Feast day Holy Mass for members of the Third order will be celebrated at 8 a.m. All parishoners, as well as all those who belong to big Franciscan family are invited to come.
On September 13, 2009, the Feast of Exaltation of the Holy Cross was celebrated in Medjugorje, that is traditionally celebrated on first Sunday after the Feast of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary. Holy Masses in the parish church were celebrated at 6, 7 and 8 a.m. Solemn Holy Mass on the top of the Cross Mountain, in the presence of numerous parishioners and pilgrims was at 11 a.m. and Fr. Mario Knezovic, parish vicar in the parish of Posusje was main celebrant. For all those unable to climb the Cross Mountain, Holy Mass in the parish church was at 12, led by Fr. Tomislav Pervan along with fifty other priests that con celebrated. Evening Holy Mass at the Dome of church of St. James' was celebrated by Fr. Ivan Ivanda with concelebration of 76 priests. (foto)
