Celebration of the Feast of Mother of God and New Year's Eve in Medjugorje gathered many pilgrims and parishioners to come here and groups arrived from Italy, Hungary, Korea, Spain, Slovakia, the United States, Czech Republic, China, Lebanon, France, Poland, Austria and Germany. Many youth from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina were here too. Fr. Marinko Sakota, the parish priest, celebrated Thanksgiving Holy Mass for the previous year was celebrated at 6 pm, along with 45 priests concelebrating. The celebration was more beautiful thanks to the singing of the parish choir of the Queen of Peace, conducted by Sr. Irena Azinovic.
Members of Cenacolo community gave their third live performance of the Nativity scene after Holy Mass, while prayer vigil began at 10 pm with the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament led by Fr. Perica Ostojic. Midnight Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Vjekoslav Milićević. Fr, Marinko Sakota congratulated New Year to all present at the end of Midnight Holy Mass.
