Ceremony of entrance and promises into the Franciscan Youth in Medjugorje

date: 05.02.2014.

On Sunday, February 2, in the church of St. James in Medjugorje, young people, members of the Franciscan Youth, had ceremony of solemn promises during the evening Holy Mass at 6 p.m. that Fr. Slaven Brekalo, regional spiritual assistant, had celebrated in con-celebration of 11 other priests. It was Sunday of Presentation of our Lord, and Fr. Slaven had combined those two events into his homily. “Dear Franciscan Youth from Medjugorje, this Feast that we celebrate today as well as your promises to God are not accidental, because this Feast was called Feast of Encounters before. For one encounter, it always takes two, never one person. When only one man stands alone, he soon enters into the one-way road. All is limited. The other is necessary to him so he could achieve himself, see him in the other. All is limited. It was today when God allowed for your promises to take place, that you may achieve yourself in God, that you may confirm your promises to God”, said Fr. Slaven in his homily. At the end, parish priest, Fr. Marinko Sakota, greeted and congratulated young people and told them to continue their walk with Gospa and St. Francis for they will never have better friends. A day earlier, ceremony of reception of 59 young people into the Franciscan Youth was held. They had short adoration of the Blessed Sacrament when they meditated with prayers of Mother Theresa and ceremony was held immediately afterwards.
