FEAST OF EXALTATION OF THE HOLY CROSS CELEBRATED IN MEDJUGORJE

On September 13, 2009, the Feast of Exaltation of the Holy Cross was celebrated in Medjugorje, that is traditionally celebrated on first Sunday after the Feast of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary. Holy Masses in the parish church were celebrated at 6, 7 and 8 a.m. Solemn Holy Mass on the top of the Cross Mountain, in the presence of numerous parishioners and pilgrims was at 11 a.m. and Fr. Mario Knezovic, parish vicar in the parish of Posusje was main celebrant. For all those unable to climb the Cross Mountain, Holy Mass in the parish church was at 12, led by Fr. Tomislav Pervan along with fifty other priests that con celebrated.
 Evening Holy Mass at the Dome of church of St. James' was celebrated by Fr. Ivan Ivanda with concelebration of 76 priests. As every year, the rivers of pilgrims were coming to Medjugorje during the night. Many of them walked, some even in their bare feet. The Cross on the top of Cross Mountain was illuminated also this year prior to this Feast, as a reminder to parishioners and pilgrims of the visible sign of eternal light that comes to us from the Cross.
