Our brother Fr. Ante Kutlesa, OFM died on Friday, April 17, 2020 in the age of 76, in his 58th year of religious life and 52nd year of priesthood. Fr. Ante was born on April 13, 1944 in the parish of Prisoje, of parents Stjepan and Anica. He was baptised on April 17, 1944. He was studying in Germany, Königstein, from 1967-1970 and entered in Franciscan Novice on July 14, 1962, professed his first vows on July 15, 1963, and his solemn vows on April 15, 1968 in Fulda, Germany. He was ordained as deacon on May 25, 1968 and ordained as a priest on February 8, 1969 in Königstein, Germany.
As a priest he served in Konjic, then in Zurich and from 1975 he became a missionary in Kongo, Kayeye, until 1984, then he moved to Kamino until 1998 and served as Regional Guardian Priest. In 1998 he moved to Kimungo and stayed there until 2017, when he returned to his Province in Herzegovina and served as the confessor and assistant parish priest in Medjugorje in St. James parish from 2017, until his death.
His funeral, in accordance to the restrictions of public gathering due to coronavirus, will be held among his closest members of the Franciscan brothers and relatives.
