Holy Mass in Medjugorje in the memory of the victims of the past wars

Medjugorje is remembering the victims of the past wars in this period, so the memorial of the Blessed Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac, Saturday, February 10, will be the day of celebrating Holy Mass for all parishioners killed in the course of the World War I and II, as well as during the Homeland War, as well as for all those others who laid their lives for the faith and their homeland.

There were 61 people missing or killed in the course of the World War I, 386 people killed in the World War II (most of them in May 1945), and 10 people in the recent Homeland War.

Parish is also remembering all Franciscans born in Medjugorje or those who served here and who were killed and martyred by the communists during or after the World War II. out of 66 killed Franciscans in Herzegovinian Province, 10 of them were connected to Medjugorje parish and those are: Fr. Jozo Bencun, Fr. Marko Dragićević (Sr.), Fr. Mariofil Sivrić, Fr. Grgo Vasilj, Fr. Jenko Vasilj, Fr. Križan Galić, Fr. Bono Jelavić, Fr. Paško Martinac, Fr. Anđelko Nuić and Fr. Bernardin Smoljan.
