Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow and his sister Ruth from Scotland came to Medjugorje for the first time as adolescents in 1983. In next to no time, they also brought their parents to the Shrine of the Queen of Peace. In 1988, the whole family MacFarlane-Barrow, with the permission of the Bishop, decided to give over to God the family hotel «Craig Lodge House», to be a place of prayer and a retreat centre. A prayer group started to gather together and became the «Craig Lodge Community» (see: http://www.craiglodge.org).
Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow founded the humanitarian organisation «Scottish International Relief» (see: http://www.sircharity.org). During the war in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, “SIR” was helping in these regions, and now, it is helping in Rumania, Asia, Africa… Magnus also started the project called «Mary’s Meals» (see: http://www.sircharity.org/marys%20meals.htm). It began with providing warm daily meals to schoolchildren in Malawi, and is now spreading also in South America and India. (Interview: preparing)
