New Year’s Eve in Medjugorje

Apart from the parishioners of Medjugorje parish, there were numerous pilgrims from all over the world. According to the information of Information Office there were larger groups of pilgrims from Korea, China, Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Hungary, Spain, Romania, Switzerland, Slovakia, Poland, the United States, Czech Republic, Portugal, Canada, Ukraine and Lithuania.
There were also large groups of pilgrims from Croatia and Canada, along with many groups from other countries that are not mentioned above.
Holy Mass of Thanksgiving for 2011 was celebrated at 6 p.m. and Fr. Tomislav Pervan was the main celebrant with 55 priests that concelebrated. After Holy Mass, there was live Nativity scene performance in front of the church, performed by members of Cenacolo community.
Prayer programme New Year’s Eve started at 10 p.m. with vigil that was led by Fr. Svetozar Kraljevic.
The solemn Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Slaven Brekalo and there were 140 priests that concelebrated. After the prayer programme finished, thousands of young people continued their joyful celebration in music and song of praise. (photos)
