PEACE WALK HELD

Also this year, on the Feast of St. John the Baptist and at the Eve of the 35th Anniversary of Our Lady’s Apparitions, many pilgrims took part in the 25th Peace Walk that began at 6.10 am at Humac, shrine of St. Anthony and finished outside the church of St. James in Medjugorje, led by Fr. Marinko Sakota, the parish priest and other priests and religious who participated.

Fr. Velimir Mandic gave a blessing to all pilgrims outside the church of St. Anthony and Fr. Marinko, Medjugorje parish priest said: „We are here again at the beginning of Peace Walk, prayer for peace, from Humac to Medjugorje, with Mary and Jesus on the way for peace”.

Pilgrims came outside the church of St. James in prayer and song around 930 am and were welcomed by applause by other pilgrims from Medjugorje on this special day, before the Anniversary. Fr. Vjekoslav Milicevic led benediction with the Blessed Sacrament outside the church

German pilgrim Hubert Liebherr, who was saddened by all restlessness and horror of the homeland war and together with few friends he initiated this Peace Walk in 1992, trusting Gospa’s words that with prayer and rosary even the wars could be stopped.
