Pilgrims from Vitez and Posavina on their pilgrimage in Medjugorje

date: 25.10.2016.

Even though we are in the end of October, huge numbers of pilgrims are in Medjugorje each day, especially on weekends when they come in great numbers from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The last weekend was particularly busy, when many pilgrims arrived from Vitez and Posavina. Fr. Velimir Bavrka, parish priest of Vitez parish was with them and he said: I am coming to Medjugorje as a pilgrim for many years now, while I served in Posavina, I used to bring pilgrims here twice a year. When I arrived to Vitez two months ago, I wanted to start my mission with Gospa, the Mother, as that is the most important dimension today. All of the shrines are beautiful, but Medjugorje is the most special of all those places for me”, Fr. Velimir said in his interview for Radio Mir, and added: First we went to Apparition Hill and prayed before the statue of Our Lady and in the evening we participated in the evening prayer programme, Rosary, Holy Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. On Sunday morning we climbed Cross Mountain at 5 am. It was a beautiful experience with many elderly pilgrims. They all brought their crosses before the Cross on the top of the mountain. We had Holy Mass afterwards.”

Pilgrims Nedjeljka Biletić, Ljubica Garić and Vanja Papić said that there in Medjugorje they feel immense peace and beauty. Nedjeljka has been coming to Medjugorje for the last ten years: This is always a new experience, something that is hard to describe in words. It is something only Gospa can give to us, peace that one can feel in the air! I wish all of the people would come here and have this experience. When you return home, it is easier to face the difficulties.” Ljubica Garić used to come to Medjugorje before the war and during the war she endured many tragedies, but thanks to Our Lady, she was able to go through all of that. Vanja Papić said that Medjugorje was the crucial point of her life: „When I thought there was no hope in my life, I also got sick, I arrived here for seminar of fasting, prayer and silence. My whole life was changed and I learned how to deal with people. The main reason of my coming here is to thank God and Our Lady.”
