THE FEAST OF ASSUMPTION OF BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CELEBRATED IN MEDJUGORJE

Dozens of thousands of pilgrims, local and from abroad, came to Medjugorje for celebration of feast of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary. According to the information from Parish Office, on that day there were 21 Holy Masses that were celebrated in the Church, at the White Altar and in the Chapel, all in different world languages, and total of 150 priests concelebrated at those Masses. Parish priest Fr. Petar Vlasic was the main celebrant at the Holy Mass at 11 a.m., and Fr. Miljenko Steko, Vicar of Herzegovinian Franciscan Province was the main celebrant at 7 p.m. Holy Mass. This year will be especially remembered with thousands of pilgrims who were walking in their bare feet, with rosary beads in their hands, who after many walked miles were coming to Medjugorje throughout the whole night. Confessionals were opened already at 4 a.m., and first Holy Mass was celebrated at 5 a.m. Many international pilgrims continued their pilgrimage in Medjugorje by visiting places of prayer – Apparition Hill and Cross Mountain.
