The Secretary for Relations within the Holy See’s Secretariat of the State, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, visited Medjugorje

This morning, after having visited the diocesan seats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations within the Holy See’s Secretariat of the State, also visited Medjugorje.

He arrived accompanied by Msgr.  Petar Palić, Bishop of Mostar-Duvno Diocese and Apostolic Administrator of Trebinje-Mrkanj, Vicar of the Herzegovinian Dioceses, Fr. Nikola Menal, Msgr.  Janusz Stanisław Błachowiak from the State Secretariat of the Holy See, Msgr.  Amaury Medina Blanca, Charge d'Affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature in Sarajevo.

Upon arriving to Medjugorje, they were welcomed by the Apostolic Visitor with a special role for the parish of Medjugorje, Archbishop Aldo Cavalli, the Provincial of the Herzegovina Franciscan Province, Fr. Miljenko Šteko, and the Medjugorje Parish Priest, Fr. Marinko Šakota.

The Secretary for Relations within the Holy See’s Secretariat of the State, Archbishop Gallagher, had a cordial conversation with the Provincial, Fr. Miljenko Šteko, and then they visited Medjugorje Church of St. James and other places of prayer near the parish church.

Archbishop Gallagher stayed in Bosnia and Herzegovina for four days, celebrated Holy Masses in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar Cathedrals and met with state authorities and church dignitaries, and his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina finally ended in Medjugorje.
