The Secretary of State of the Holy See for the Relations with the States met the Franciscans in Mostar

Mons. Dominique Mamberti, the Secretary of the Holy See for the relations with the states (minister of the foreign affairs) was on an official visit in Bosnia and Herzegovina from April 26 to 29, 2008, On April 27, he met the provincial government of the Herzegovinian Franciscans in the monastery in Mostar. Present were also Mons. Alessandro D'Errico, the apostolic nuncio in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as their closes collaborators, mons. Miguel Buendi Maury and mons. Waldemar Stanislav Sommertag.

Fr. Ivan Sesar, the Provincial, emphasized the exceptional importance of this visit for the Franciscans in Herzegovina, and he thanked mons. Mamberti for the time he took for this meeting with the Franciscans. He underlined that in this visit the Franciscans recognize the expression of the closeness and love of the Holy Father. The provincial asked mons. Mamberti to transmit to the Holy Father Benedict XVI the filial greetings of the Franciscans.

In a one-hour meeting, mons. Mamberti transmitted the greetings of the Holy Father to all the friars of this Province, and stressed the inestimable importance of the role of the religious in the universal and local Church. He invited the Franciscans to continue to live in the spirit of their charisma and in fidelity to the Church, and to serve God and their people.

After the official meeting, he remained in a friendly conversation with the friars from the monastery in Mostar and the superiors of them monasteries in Herzegovina. (See: http://www.franjevci.info)
