Basic Information and Broadcasting Area

Our radio station officially started broadcasting on November 25, 1997. The preparations for broadcasting took us about two years. In those difficult times of war, it was not easy to undertake such a project. In the beginning, our intention was to create a radio station exclusively at the service of the parishioners of Medjugorje, in order to help them to receive in the best possible way, as persons and as Christians, the numerous pilgrims who came daily to the Shrine of the Queen of Peace. Because of its significance, our radio station experienced another development…

Its technical development was quite rapid, so that, today, we cover a significant part of Bosnia, of Herzegovina and of Croatia. From the point of view of the development of its programme, Radio “Mir” Medjugorje developed more slowly. The original broadcasting time was from 3:30 pm to 8 pm. Its main purpose was the live-transmission of the Rosary and of Holy Mass from the Church of St. James in Medjugorje, which remains its central point even today. The program was gradually enriched by other contents. From March 30th 1998, our broadcasting time changed to 2:30 pm to 8 pm. As a result of introducing new contents, from November 25, 1998, we started to broadcast from 1 pm to 8 pm. However, it was not long… Since January 4, 1999, we have been broadcasting from 1 pm to 9 pm. Since October 4th 2001, the feast of St. Francis, we have been broadcasting our program with a new scheme from 12 am to 9 pm. Since May 1st, 2002, our radio broadcasts its program live every day from 12 am to 10 pm. Since the beginning 0f 2003, we broadcast our own program from 10 am to 10 pm. On March 25, 2004, our Radio started to broadcast its own program 24 hours/day.

From the very beginning, our broadcasting orientation was following the principle, “healthy humanity, healthy spirituality”. We have remained faithful to this principle to this day. We offer a varied selection of programs encompassing different dimensions of human life. We want simply to touch the whole human existence: Humanity and its orientation towards God.
