The first week of the Easter period is called the Octave of Easter and the whole liturgy of the church is imbued with the Paschal Mystery. There were many gatherings of pilgrims during this particular week in Medjugorje. Pilgrims from all over the world took part in the Eucharistic celebrations in different languages, as well as in the evening prayer programme. The Information Office registered groups from Germany, Canada, England, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, Ireland, the United States, Korea, Spain, Lebanon, France, Poland, Austria, Uruguay, Slovakia, Mexico, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The statistics for March are: 114,400 Holy Communions distributed and 1,424 priests who concelebrated; an average of 45 each day.
