date: 15.06.2015.

The 4th International Pilgrimage for Persons with Disabilities finished on Sunday, June 14, with the Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Marinko Sakota, the parish priest. The pilgrimage was held with the theme “In Mary’s School” and gathered around 1500 participants. Parishioners of Medjugorje parish provided free accommodation to the groups of pilgrims from Latvia, Ukraine, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, the United States, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. This pilgrimage was organised by the Association “Encounter” from Citluk, parish office Medjugorje and Mother’s Village. “These were the days of blessing, love and communion, days of acceptance and humility”, said Paula Tomic, the member of the Organisation Committee. Marie-Hélène Mathieu, who is 86 years old and comes from France, co-founder of the International movement Faith and Light, came to Medjugorje for the first time and found this experience to be very special. Danica Dujmović from Split, volunteers and helps persons with special needs and cannot stop smiling after this experience: „We came here to help, but we got so much more, more than we had expected. Every opportunity we had to spend with those people and their parents enriches us. Unfortunately, all of those people are today on the margins of our society, especially in the smaller environments. They feel isolated and are not involved in the social life. I feel so bad about it.“ (photos)
