The third World Day of Grandparents and Elderly Persons will be celebrated on July 23 in Medjugorje

The Catholic Grandparents Association invites you to come on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje in order to celebrate the Third World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly under the mantle of Mary, as part of the Novena to the parish patron saint, St. James the Apostle.

This pilgrimage will take place on Sunday, July 23, 2023, under the motto "His mercy is from age to age" (Lk 1, 50).

This is also the theme of the 3rd World Day of Grandparents and Elderly Persons, which was chosen by the Holy Father, and this Day will be celebrated all over the world on that Sunday.

On the occasion of that Day, the Holy Father will preside over the Eucharistic service in St. Peter's Basilica and has invited parishes, dioceses, associations and church communities from all over the world to celebrate that Day in their own pastoral environment.

Establishing the World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly, the Pope said that the relationship between grandparents and young people is very close, and therefore the dialogue between them should be constant, and that it is very important for grandparents to meet their grandchildren.

The program on this day in Medjugorje will begin at 5 p.m. with a catechesis held by Archbishop Aldo Cavalli, the Apostolic Visitor with a special role for the parish of Medjugorje, the prayer of the Rosary will be at 6 p.m., and the Holy Mass celebrated by the Medjugorje parish priest Fr. Zvonimir Pavičić will take place at 7 p.m.

The plenary indulgence can be received on that day in Medjugorje and for all those who will not be in Medjugorje, this program will be broadcast directly on Radio Station Mir Medjugorje and our YouTube channels – Media Mir Medjugorje in numerous languages.
