Valentin Inzko, the High Representative of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina visited Medjugorje

date: 21.04.2009.

Valentin Inzko, the High Representative of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina visited Medjugorje on Saturday, April 18, 2009. He already came about twenty times. On Saturday, he assisted the Evening Mass at 6 PM. We spoke with him during his visit.

Mr. Inzko, how do you feel in Medjugorje?

Phantastic! In my soul, there is peace and hapiness, and i feel that i received some help and strength that i need so much.

When did you hear for the first time about Medjugorje?

I heard about Our Lady’s apparitions in Medjugorje for the first time in 1982. I came fot the first time to Medjugorje a year later, in 1983. I remember that I was not allowed to stay in the hotel „Čitluk“ - today hotel „Brotnjo“ – and it was empty, because I did not announce my coming through the protocol, and I was a young diplomat in Belgrade. It was the time of communism. I slept in the car.

Mr. Inzko, what are your impressions about o Medjugorje?

I have not seen any miracles, but miracles happen within, in me. We can feel God’s peace and think about other values. Here, people change, think in a different way.

When are you coming again to Medjugorje?

Latest by June 25 and 26, for the anniversary of Our Lady’s apparitions, maybe even earlier, I don’t know. Whenever I come into this region, I visit Medjugorje. I was here in October and in November last year, but anonymously. I come here for personal reasons and for nothing else.

What is for you the meaning of the Medjugorje messages?

I believe in the apparitions in Medjugorje. I felt here something special, and the messages are very important. The most important is the message of peace. Mary is the Queen of Peace, she is accepted by all, also by the Muslims, for all countries and all times.

Do you follow the Medjugorje events?

Yes and no. I know that you have a cultural program; I know about the Youth Festival for young people from all over the world, I heard about Radio MIR Medjugorje, which is very popular and recognizable. It has a large audience.

At the end, Mr. Inzko declared: We should all change ourselves; this is the only way to change the world. May all those who say that they are believers – truly be believers, may they truly live their faith!
