Fr. Slavko Soldo, a priest of the Herzegovina Franciscan Province, passed away at the age of 79, 58 years of religious life and 53 years of priesthood on Sunday, June 29, the feast of Saints Peter and Paul and the anniversary of his ordination, in Medjugorje, endowed with the holy sacraments.

The Holy Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 3 p.m. in the Church of St. James in Medjugorje. After the Holy Mass, the funeral rites and burial will be held at the Kovačica Cemetery in Medjugorje.

Fr. Slavko Soldo was born in Medjugorje in 1946. He attended high school in Dubrovnik. He began his studies of philosophy and theology in Sarajevo, continued in Trento and finished in Rome. He was ordained a priest in 1972 in Königstein. He went to the Custody of the Herzegovinian Franciscan Province in the USA in 1973 to the monastery of St. Anthony in Chicago. He soon went to Washington DC where he studied English at Georgetown University. His services in the Custody were: Spiritual Assistant in the parish of St. Augustine in West Allis from 1974 to 1975; Spiritual Assistant in the parish of St. Cyril and Methodius in New York from 1975 to 1977; Spiritual Assistant in the parish of St. Jerome in Chicago from 1977 to 1979; Parish priest in the parish of St. Cyril and Methodius in New York from 1979 to 1986; Parish priest in the parish of St. Augustine in West Allis from 1986 to 1988; Parish priest in the parish of St. Mary in Steelton from 1988 to 1989; Parish priest in the parish of St. Cyril and Methodius in New York from 1989 to 1994; Curator of the Franciscan Custody based in Chicago, elected in 1994 and remaining in office until June 29, 2001; Provincial of the Herzegovinian Franciscan Province based in Mostar from June 29, 2001 to April 2007; Master of Novices at the Monastery of St. Anthony in Humac from September 18, 2007 to July 15, 2016; in West Allis in 1987, he founded and directed the "Croatian Religious Radio Program". He founded the "Fund for Assistance to Victims of the Homeland War" in New York in 1991. The Fund operated throughout the Homeland War. He was the editor of: "Custody Bulletin" from 1994 - 2001. Since August 2016, he has been the parish vicar in Medjugorje parish.
