The first week of the Easter period is called the Octave of Easter and the whole liturgy of the church is imbued with the Paschal Mystery. There were many gatherings of pilgrims during this particular week in Medjugorje. Pilgrims from all over the world took part in the Eucharistic celebrations in different languages, as well as in the evening prayer programme.

Since early morning on Good Friday pilgrims climbed Cross Mountain in large or small groups and prayed the Way of the Cross. As is the case every year the Way of the Cross for Croatian pilgrims and the parishioners began at 11am. (photos)

Palm Sunday or the Sunday of the Passion of Our Lord traditionally is an introduction to Holy Week, as a preparation for Easter, the greatest Christian feast. As in previous years, the liturgy of Palm Sunday began in the ruins of the old parish church. The procession began after the Gospel reading about the entrance of Our Lord into Jerusalem was read and the blessing of palm and olive branches followed. (photos)
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (March 21- March 23, 2016): Holy Mass is at 7.30 a.m. and at 6 p.m. Confessions are before the morning Mass and from 4.30 p.m. This Wednesday, after the evening Mass, there will be the last encounter for parishioners, to meditate and eat bread and socialise afterwards, which takes place in the hall of John Paul II. The hosts are employees of the parish office and Information Centre.
The visionary Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo had daily apparitions from June 24th 1981 to December 25th 1982. During the last daily apparition, Our Lady gave her the 10th secret, and told her that she would appear to her once a year, on the 18th of March. It has been this way through the years. Several thousand pilgrims gathered in prayer of the Rosary.
A married couple, Marie Cécile and Rafael from France, came to Medjugorje with their pilgrimage organizer, Denis. Marie Cécile lives with her husband in a place which is 17 miles away from Lisieux, the shrine of St. Therese of the Child Jesus. She was our guest at the radio station Mir and this is what she told us: “We have three children and six grandchildren, five of whom were adopted.
This Wednesday, March 16, there will be 82 years since cross on Cross Mountain was completed and blessed in the first Holy Mass held up on that mountain. The idea for that project came from Vatican. Holy Father of that time, Pius XI proposed that crosses are built at hills and mountains all over the world for the occasion of 1900th anniversary of Jesus' death on the cross.
The Information Office registered in the first days of March, groups of pilgrims from Poland, France, Ukraine, the United States, Germany, Spain, Italy, Romania, China, Korea, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, England, Slovakia, Australia, Latvia and Lebanon.
