The 5th International Pilgrimage for Persons with Disabilities will be held in Medjugorje from June 15 – 18, 2017. Gathering and accommodation of pilgrims in homes of the parishioners shall take place on Thursday, June 15. What makes this pilgrimage more unique, it is the fact that parishioners of Medjugorje parish offer free accommodation to the participants. The Organisation Board of the Pilgrimage, along with the representatives of the local communities Medjugorje and Bijakovici, has made some decisions last year and those shall remain in force also this year, as follows:
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (April 10- 12, 2017): Holy Masses in Croatian language are according to the regular schedule at 7.30 a.m. and at 6 p.m. Confessions shall take place before the morning Mass and in the afternoon from 4.30 p.m.
Palm Sunday or the Sunday of the Passion of Our Lord traditionally is an introduction to Holy Week, as a preparation for Easter, the greatest Christian feast. As in the previous years, the liturgy of Palm Sunday began at the ruins of the old parish church. The procession began after the Gospel about the entrance of Our Lord into Jerusalem was read and the blessing of palm and olive branches followed. (photos)
The ambulance of the Order of Malta began with their activities in a new season in Medjugorje on this Palm Sunday. Their hours for urgent medicine are from 9 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. and from 3.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. They will continue to work until October 31, 2017.
On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at 4 pm, an hour-long press conference of the Special Envoy of the Holy See for Medjugorje, Dr. Henryk Hoser, was held in the Hall of St. John Paul II. Even though there were about fifty journalists registered, the interest for this event was much greater. (photos)
The long tradition of Mostar Duvno Diocese says that the whole week from the 5th Sunday of the Lent, until the Palm Sunday is offered for the prayer to prevent curses and blasphemous language in our people. All parishioners and pilgrims are invited to offer their prayer intentions, especially the Way of the Cross on Friday and to present those to the Lord as the atonement for all the pain He receives through slandering and blasphemous language.
Highly respected and dear Archbishop Henryk Hoser!
My words are too small to express how I feel ever since February 11, 2017, Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, when our dear Holy Father Francis appointed you as his personal Envoy for Medjugorje.
Mons. Henryk Hoser was born on November, 27, 1942 in Warsaw. He is a member of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottines) and at the moment he is Bishop of Warsaw Praga. He studied medicine in his youth and worked as a doctor and assistant lecturer at the Academy of Medicine.
Dear brothers and sisters, I will speak in French, excuse me, for I have not yet learned the beautiful Croatian language!
We have gathered around the altar on the 5th Sunday of Lent. We have two more weeks from the Easter, and in a week time, it will be Palm Sunday, and in two weeks we are going to celebrate, at the end of Holy Week, the greatest Christian Feast Day - the Feast of the Resurrection. (photos)
