Many parishes are in the festive atmosphere in these days, on Sunday, December 2, 2018, the first Sunday of the Advent was celebrated, the first candle was lit, and early Holy Masses began on Monday. Church of St. James is full to the last seat and in this Advent time there will not be other Holy Mass in Croatian language in the morning, as we will celebrate these Holy Masses for the intentions of your departed ones. On Sunday, December 2, the Advent begins with the First Sunday in the Advent. May this time of the Advent help us to reflect in the better way on our lives and to make decisions how to improve it even more. We will celebrate early Holy Masses in this time in the church of St. James at 6 am, every day except for Sundays. As it was the case in the previous years, in this time we will not have Holy Mass at 7.30 am, only early Holy Mass, when we will pray for your intentions and deceased ones.
The 18th Anniversary of Fr. Slavko’s death was commemorated on Saturday, November 24 in the parish church of St. James, with the Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Iko Skoko, along with 14 other priests who concelebrated at this Holy Mass. (photos)
On Saturday, November 24, 2018, parishioners of Medjugorje we will commemorate Fr. Slavko’s 18th death anniversary. Fr. Slavko was a priest who devoted his life to spreading of Our Lady’s messages in the world and to serving to all pilgrms. Fr. Slavko died on Cross Mountain on Friday, November 24, 2000, after having completed the Way of the Cross for the parish.
On Saturday, November 24, 2018, the meeting for the members of the Community the Faith and the Lights shall take place in Mother’s Village at 4 pm. We invite all those who are interested in joining this community, all persons with disabilities, their parents and particularly those who wish to be their friends to come and join us so we would all together discover the world of those “pure and humble in their hearts”, so pleasing to God and to Gospa.
Launching of Fr. Antonio Sakota’s book, Holy Land – Book of Memories, took place in the monastery of Herzegovinian Franciscans in Dubrava in Zagreb, on November 22, 2018. Along with the author, there will be Fr. Tomislav Glavnik and Darko Pavicic as the presenters. Tambourine orchestra Misericordia from Surmanci, parish of Medjugorje, will perform at this event too.
On Monday, November 12, the Night of Thanksgiving was held in Medjugorje in the Hall of John Paul II, for all Medjugorje parishioners who in the last years expressed their charity and mercy in numerous deeds of love by helping those who were in need. More than 2000 pilgrims from Karlovac were in Medjugorje for their spiritual retreat. As a part of their pilgrimage they visited Apparition Hill, Cross Mountain and were there for the evening prayer programme.

On Friday, November 8, we will commemorate the sixth anniversary of death of the former Medjugorje parish priest, Fr. Petar Vlasic. Fr. Petar was born on July 19, 1938 in Sovici, parish of Gorica and was ordained as a priest on October 11, 1966. He served in the various parishes as the parish vicar, the parish priest and the guardian of the monastery in Mostar, as well as the member of Administration of Herzegovina Franciscan Province. He was in Medjugorje since 1999, and he was appointed as the parish priest in August 2007 and served at this position until his death. He rayed with goodness, simplicity and warmth, even in the moments of his grave illness. He was buried in Kovacica graveyard, at the back of St. James' church in Medjugorje on November 9, 2012.

This year’s YouFra Music Festival was held on October 27 in Sarajevo, with the theme “Sing praise, play music, proclaim all his wondrous deeds!” (1 Chronicles 16, 9) This Festival gathered around 1150 members of the Franciscan youth, 43 fraternities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as from Croatia and Albania.
